Too small, you should be looking at a 1.8 for primers.Thinking about a PRi for a primer gun, heard good reports for the DeVilbiss item. Question is, with a 1.4 nozzle what primers can and can't I paint, will I get away with Lechler or will the nozzle need to be larger?
Thanks![]()
Thanks for the infoToo small, you should be looking at a 1.8 for primers.
Sounds like it’s 1.8 for a higher solid primer then, thanksI have the pri pro with a 1.8 fluid nozzle and don't have any problems with epoxy primer but haven't tried the lechler one.
Looking at the tds for lechler 29107 epoxy primer the recommended nozzle for hvlp is 1.4-1.8, but i think 1.8 would be better if I had a choice
I’ve never painted by spray gun either, somewhat apprehensive too. Gathering all the equipment before the gun begins.I recently spent quite a while looking at primer guns although my choice was a bit limited by compressor capacity.
I plumped for the FMT4007 kit with a 1.8 and 1.3 nozzle setup.
ive never sprayed before, but everything I read, and my professional sprayer son-in-law suggested 1.8 or 2 mm nozzles for high build primers.
Try not to worry too much, I'm afraid leaks are the inevitable. I've been doing exactly the same recently, I'm pretty festidious most of my joints were soldered although I have been using compression fittings. Guess what, most of the leaks came from the PCL XF couplings, nothing terribly serious but they DO leak despite not seeing a great deal of usage.Still yet to pull the trigger here too.
loads to go at but likewise still getting finally set up.
thought I’d got my airline leak free, couldn’t hear any hissing, but it is losing 150 psi tank pressure to 100 line pressure in about four hours.
a bit of water and fairy liquid tells me I need to install Dowty washers. View attachment 290745
I might give the thread lock a go, so far PTFE only.I modified my mini gun gf3 to have a 1.7-1.8mm nozzle and it sprays epoxy very well, first two coats thick. After flatting I have used the 1mm tip for another couple coats to cover any filler or bare patches, with it mixed thin, "wet on wet" in TDS. You get quite an orange peel finish with it thick. Im undecided which way is least effort.
I'm tempted by the amazon kits that come with an inline diaphram regulator and 3 sets of nozzels for 30 quid. The air caps look near identical to the Ani guns.
@Miranda Ive found threadlock best for air fittings. Just give it 5 minutes before connecting air.
Plenty of PTFE cured that issue with mine, or as Kram says maybe thread lockCompression fittings are fine. The leaks are all in the 1/2 bsf into the filters everyone leaking.
Yeah, dowty washers required here... but you already know that.Compression fittings are fine. The leaks are all in the 1/2 bsf into the filters everyone leaking.
