Yet another what is this tool

Found an old set of pliers that proved ideal for removing a captive pin from an outboard hydraulic cylinder today.

It looks a fair age and has a couple of features on the legs that got me wondering if it is a tool for a specific job/trade?

I've always known those as pincers not pliers.
The fork end is for removing tacks. Otherwise the business end for removing larger nails or at a pinch (sorry!) cutting wire.
I've never worked out what the ball end is for - other than not gouging your palm like the fork end!

Pincers I believe, Sometimes had a small claw at the end of one of the handles for pulling tacks as per claw hammer, But what the special use for that tool was is a mystery to me.

Thanks folks, I googled antique pincers and there are a few the same described as carpenters pincers: no woodworkers in my family so not seen them before - quite handy.

Thanks and they are handy for extracting Mercury outboard tilt cylinder retaining pins.

Some of mine do.
I have two sets with out, they have a single claw, like a crow bar end.

Look out for ones with a end of an arm with what looks like a board flat screwdriver.

It is sued to drive glacier pins in to the frame.

No. Far too complicated for me.

No such thing - all tools have more than one function

Even a hammer - hit nails, wedge doors open, dolly there's probably more but the coffee has just arrived.

yeah they are nail pincers, worth keep sharp as you can grab nails on the edge.

failing that you hammer the claws in under the head
