I did wonder that, but was worried it might distort/pull in stuff that isnt currently distorted. You dont think thats a risk here?
I dont have oxy, but can use the welder puller thing. Done that before for shrinking, works well.

Sure , nothing to loose ,, id give it a go , but Id be using oxy acet. I dont know if a spot welder would have the heat , maybe a few tig spots if you have one . or take it to some one with gas.

Had oil canning on the deck panel on my charger after id welded in a replacement. Did a spiral of welds and it pulled it flat and tight. I have tig too. Just no oxy 
ah , well it needs leaded now , at the very worst it will still need lead , at the very best , it will just take less lead ,, go for it , the worlds your lobster ...Will do. The welder can easily do it. Done it before

The americans have alrerady had a go at this in their usual style. Drill holes everywhere then half inch of filler over. Job jobbed!!!
Now trying to do it properly.
