Hi All,
My workshop where I am building my boats, there is a nearby homeowner who has complained about a very specific noise, very infrequently emanating from the workshop.
The noise the issues is with is when I am moving these small boats around and they tip over and hit the floor and make a "crashing" type noise. It is quite loud and that type of low pitch noise will no doubt carry a fair way on a calm day. But my workshop is 60mm insulated, including the roller door, air tight and I don't think it would carry the 50+ meters to her house and be very loud, and as i say its very infrequent, but to appease her and the council I have said I will look at options.
The one i have come to think may be best is to cover the center of the workshop where the boats are with rubber matting, (thinking about this type thing) https://www.gclproducts.co.uk/p/rubber-surfacing/rubber-grass-mat-roll/
Wouldn't catch fire, and would make it a lot easier dragging boats around myself, and another thing, when I flip the boats over I wouldn't need to worry about the concrete scratching them.
The only thing that just came in my mind is earthing, when welding on top of this type of material, what would be the possible pitfalls of this. When everything is right the earth will go back to the welder from the earth clamp.
But if there was a fault, or earth leakage of some sort, with the boat sitting on Rubber could I end up in a situation where the boat was live? could shock me? in fault conditions I am talking about?
Maybe I'm completely off the mark? , but just thought before buying these rolls of rubber I would ask the question.
Thanks in advance.
