Does the dinse connector rapid sent me fit?...



...nope. Right size, goes in, but will not turn. Poorly manufactured. Maybe I can file it to fit!

Maybe worth sending it back - or at least mentioning it to them on the offchance they send you a freebie bundle of collets & tungstens...!

I found out it just need the rubber wiggling back to allow it to reach further in. Fits in now. Maybe it's not air tight anymore though!

I have had Dinse plugs where the square that turns to lock into the groove was too high, just a quick rub with a file sorted it,

There are loads of slightly-off dinse plugs around, usually they just need a tickle with a file.

Just got my CK wp9 today from R-tech looks a really nice torch although there's a bit of an issue with the switch they've sent with it , it's not the ck velcro fix one , I'll give um a buzz tomorrow.

Those elbow plugs are nice. That should make for a more compact setup.

You're right. It's a bit...shi..."cheap" shall we say; especially next to the CK super flex. I looked at eBay, Rapid, and R-Tech and they all look to come out of the same factory. I got bored looking and bought it.

If you see a nicer one ping me a link. It has to be the smaller dinse (9mm, 16/25) to fit the welder. I could step a larger dinse down to fit but that's just adding more bulkiness to the front of the machine.

CK safe Loc power adapter available in the small dinse to, quality isn't cheap though came with my new WP9 flex from R-tech.


not over impressed with the cheap generic switch though ' I'll have to source something else the CK ones are a fortune
for a switch and cable

I saw the CK Safe-Loc 25mm Dinse from Rapid. Basically £50 on its own

I'll run with el cheapo for now and after I've lost a whole cylinder of gas out the side of it I'll upgrade

Get a length of cable. Get a connector that fits the front of your welder. Get a rubber band (or cable ties). Bish bash bosh.

That's my plan. My electronics is as rusty as my soldering iron though.

When you bought the totch from R tech, did you get ck bits and bobs too or cheapies. I have two ck torches a 9 and a 20. One came from rapid with ck cups, collets etc. The other rtech. You can tell the difference in the quality with the cheap cups, collets etc. Both work, was just disapointing buying a quality torch with cheap bits.

I didn't order any consumables with it , so was torch only , i picked up a few bits from dixons and ordered a couple of cheapie gas saver kits of flea bay till I know what I really need . Consumables can really mount up so just trying to keep it really simple for now I'm hopping santa's going to bring a couple of CK gas saver kits I've dropped enough hints

I had the same issue with the Rtech dense adaptor. needs a tiny amount taking off the locating lug then it'll lock. And I found that having a more comfortable CK torch did actually help me produce better looking beads as I could hold it more comfortably.

I went the cheapie chinese way and got a clone:

Cost me £21 off amazon from a chinese seller (would be about £45 for one already in the UK), ordered on 14th of Dec, arrived today the 29th 'wp9f soft' is the keyword to search for one if anyone else is as cheap as me and can't justify the real thing.

It came with the consumables shown except the tungsten, having never handled a real CK superflex i don't know how this compares, i imagine the professional welders will point out all it's fails and short comings but i can wrap the hose around my arm multiple times like they show in the CK adverts, and that's what i wanted, a small very flexible hosed torch.

Dinse plugged straight into my sherman 206P, and i'd already fitted a rectus 21 connector on the gas out on my welder, so the gas line plugged straight in too,
if i had a complaint, the gas hose comes out on the wrong side of the dinse connector assembly, so when inserting it the gas hose is at 12 o'clock, so twisting it clockwise to lock, it goes past the gas out connector, and i have the gently bend the hose past that.

It's a wp9 sized flex head torch,
Of course i don't expect it to last like the real thing, but for me it should do the job, i now have the choice of wp9, 17 and 26 torches, all plug and play... i'll just add a torch switch to this when i get my pack of connectors in the post.
