Cheers, I've got very limited experience with it, I've had camera lenses and a microscope apart before. I've got 99% IPA, I was going to squirt it on to rinse and let it air dry? Not sure what to do about dust settling on it though, maybe sit it in in tuppaware to dry?

As far as I remember for telescope optics like mirrors you use BP branded medical grade cotton wool with de ionized water. Normal cotton wool can have contaminants in it that can cause scratches, BP stuff it 100% pure cotton fibre.

I struggle to read 32nds too, but I think that's mostly because of my tools only having metric scales on them!

Just bought an inflatable spray booth/room. 7X5 Metres. It's huge and more than big enough for my needs. It was on eBay and the chap delivered it as I'm self isolating. . Got most of the gear I need together now, so I can do my first solo respray. I need to sort some fume extraction for this behemoth now!

I believe something like a Tesa Microhite makes these fairly obsolete now but they are still made, Starrett one is about five grand for reference.

Useless without a surface plate and a gauge block to zero it but it was too nice to pass up. 0 to 12" with tenths resolution.

The seller has got a riser block for it too, to extend the range to 18". He listed it after he dispatched this though or I'd have jumped on it.

Found the head of a post hole digger in a hedge today, made my day since I've had another pair with a broken blade in my junk pile for 4 years. Straight swop of the handles even the bolt holes were the same.

Another project ticked off the list. Only 7,456 to go

But I did look on some.

This is what I got.



Half size Storm Lantern. German made, but with a NATO stock number on the filler cap. Plus a possible one on the underside of the tank.


This meat grinder is also ex armed forces stock. It is dirty, greasy, but complete.



There is a cunning plan for that.

Along with the items below.





But this item of fun has a lot of history.
British made, supplied to the Americans armed forces during WW1.



Adjustable spanner for a Lewis gun mount. It was designed to double has a hammer. As the bolts would bend and needed to be tapped out.


A few old hands will know what this is for.
