My uncle had one of those Bonds; he and my dad took their respective birds (aka wives) to a holiday park somewhere on the coast: three of them had to get out so it would get up the access road. Mind you my mother never did pack light

We had the same problem if 3 lads went out ' walk to top of hill and wait for the bond to make it. There was a guy in the road racing guys who used a bond 9e and trailer to get his 500cc race bike to meetings .We saw him at Cadwell Park nr Louth ,it had taken him 2 days to get there from , I think, Kent . If I remember right his surname was Sadler a real "enthusiast".

Back in the late 60's, (or maybe early 70's), we were a posh 2 car family - my Dad's company car was an Austin A40 which used to cut my fingers every Sat morning when washing the front grill, (myself and 2 sisters had "set" Saturday jobs around the house which were none negotiable) - and my Mum had a Heinkel Trojan, I would really like one now just to relive the memory - but I would have to remortgage the house to buy one.

The post about the Bond reminds me, there was a local lad that had one, he was driving across the local common, stopped for a horse which promptly sat on the bonnet. It turned the curve on the front inside out. We never did get to the bottom of how it happened, whether he ran into the horse or what.

An ex girlfriend used to run about in an Isetta , she used it on L plates and a provisional bike licence. They were a great little town wizzer.

I had a Heinkel Trojan when I was 16 ... hit a wall in it and survived (somehow) and sold it for £10 ...... seen them for 15K plus nowadays!!

I am now 68 - grew up with Mum, Dad and 2 sisters and throughout the time the Family lived in the same house - we had just ONE dustbin - one of those metal ones with a lid and handles on the side - it was emptied once a week - the dustbin man, (refuse technician nowadays), used to walk around the back of the house, pick it up, walk to the truck, empty it and bring it back ........... that however is not the point of "When I was a Lad" - the point is - we never ever filled that dustbin in a week....

We had one of them - galv' dustbins wehn I was a kid.

You are right ... . About 18" diameter - probably about 80ltrs volume? Never more than half full.

Now we have 240lt rubbish bins along with 240lt recycling bins brimming.

They now come every two weeks instead of every week thou.

That's half the problem. You can rarely just lob stuff on a fire now. The excess packaging which some stuff comes in doesn't help.

Love my pressure cookers, have 3, one is ex army and is HUGE we do speed stews on scout camp in it, at the filled to max it still takes about 2 hours to get to heat and then we cook for 2 more but it gives good stew.

My wife uses a pressure cooker regularly, makes magic steak & kidney for pies! Must stop now I’m starting to dribble.
EDIT makes lovely Christmas puds in it as well. I’m lucky, she likes cooking.
