Seems like you've moved on and are splashing the cash, but I'm a +1 for Bahco as well. What’s a good make of file for a home hobbiest?
I bought some Bhaco files, they are hardly used but not totaly rubbish. They just skate off the job
Does anyone know who makes Snap On files? I've got got couple and quite like them. Made in Portugal is etched into the blade if that helps narrow down the manufacturer.
I looked at the vallorbe files, only a tenner each?Seems like you've moved on and are splashing the cash, but I'm a +1 for Bahco as well.
They were recommended on here and when I got them they have been night and day compared to generic B&Q rubbish.
Bahco 1-478-08-1-2 File set 5PC: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools
Never had a problem with them so I'd repeat the question above about whether you might have been using them on hardened steel? As an aside, I kept a couple of the B&Q files while binning the rest and, if I'm ever in doubt, I'll throw the cheapies at the piece to see whether it's hardened. Saved my Bahcos on a couple of occasions...
Jeepers my bahcos were £27 for five, but you're not a fanI looked at the vallorbe files, only a tenner each?
Thats the brand i was trying to remember, not bad for the moneyCould be Tomé Fèteira - I believe they make the files for Bacho. Decent.
I'm partial to vallorbe files, old Stubbs or Nicholson also good - new Nicholson, not so much.
