makes you shudderA place I worked at in the 70's used to have it, the local chemist used to mix it up, intererestingly It was in identical bottles to the nitric acid solution used for macro etching mixed by the same chemist.

The Memorandum on Electric Arc Welding ( in the fifties ) had the following solution which could be made up at the chemists.
Also Boot's Chemist used to sell a small bottle of 'flash' drops for around 2/6d in the fifties.
Eye drops may ease arc eye but for further relief bathe the eyes with antiseptic and astringent lotion. A special lotion can be obtained for this condition.
Acidi Borici Gr x
Zinci Sulph. Gr 0.5
Sol. Adrenalin ( 1 in 100 ) Mx
Aq. Dest. Ad. i ( 1 ounce )

You’re missing out. The feeling of red hot sand under your eyelids is quite something!!!In all the years I've been welding never had arc eye
