What tool for turning radius and balls

Ok I made a couple of tops for my shogun sticks in the cab and wanted to radius the tops into a half ball shape.
What tool shall I use to do so.
@bR39Da gave me a wee attachment I might try or adapt.
Ideally it would fit into the QCTP tool halder to make life easy.
I have seen a few variations of tools.

Here is one I made decades ago:

A cheap Chinese boring head, a Dixon T2 taper holder bored parallel, and a little 90 degree gear box that I made.

can anyone recommend me one ,to fit the tool post,wanting to put ball ends on bars,up to about 30mm diameter. Thanks.

Ball turning attachment recommendations?

I'm in the market for a ball turning attachment to fit my ML7, up to 60mm diameter and with the ability to turn concave etc. There is a limited number on eBay and they have mixed reviews, does anyone have any specific recommendations?

Has anyone made a ball turner attachment / machine to fit on a lathe cross slide that can be made just using a vice using an angle grinder , band saw , drill press & basic hand tools , rather than having to mill out groves as I don't have a milling machine yet ? If so can you give me an idea...

To be honest I was prompted by the late and much lamented John Stevenson. He'd suggested using a boring head but his design just had a handle on the end to turn it. I'd had a rather nice anti-backlash worm and wheel from some mechanism in my desk drawer for ages that I just fiddled with occasionally when chilling out after dealing with customers and it came home with me when I retired. I'd fairly recently got a Bridgeport Interact up and running in my home workshop so needed a project to play with it so CNC milled the gear box from the solid.

Having the gear box makes it much more controllable and you can do sectors of a curve without the hassle of setting up stops.

All that said it sits on the shelf unused for an awful long time between outings !

(Sadly the Interact (literally) fell off the back of a lorry when I moved house !!!)

In school we used worn out flat hand files to make a tool with a semi-circle profile to cut a ball shape on aluminium.

If annealing is difficult, you could turn a male Morse taper to go in the holder with as large as possible parallel or stepped bore through it and loctite in.

A soft, blank arbor would also do to save some work.

Bore size might be limited, but the blunt end only needs to be able to transmit enough torque for turning the device and a larger bore at the sharp end would resist cutting forces.

That’s an innovative way to do it. All the years I worked in the machine shop we had the radius cutter pivot in the vertical plane, which made for a more conventional turn but was a lot more complex and unwieldy a tool.
