Dodgy scaffolding?

Any thoughts on this in your garden when you arrive back home and find scaffolding resting on your fence? Who would be responsible if there's an accident?

That wont do the fence any good! Scaffolders would be buying me new fence panels.
Id say thats an unsafe scaffold, are there not big H&S fines for that?

i dont think its resting on the fence , think they have tied the fence in to the scaffold to stop it accidently being knocked over as the works commence.
Same clips as the kick board on the level above

Agree that it is not resting on the fence. The single clips could be to stop the panels rattling against the scaffold legs in the middle of the night if the wind gets up.

If you do not want the clips on the fence, ask for them to be removed as they are not structurally necessary for the stability of the scaffold.

As above, it would have been more polite to ask you first rather than assuming the fence belonged to the house with the scaffold.

Yes anti-rattle clips. The fence need no support but in a wind it could rattle itself apart.

The scaffold doesn't look to be badly built even has a diagonal brace, but its ironic that there are more toe board clips on the fence than on the toe board.

That is true, but whoever commissioned the scaffold knew it was to happen some time before erection day and could have said something, if only for information and out of courtesy.

the punter might not have known the scaffolders would do it if no one about i wouldnt loose sleep over it unless your neighbor was a git and you didn't get on

Surely that onus is on the house owner they were working for?
For all we know the owner told them it was his fence.

if im doing owt at work with ladders involved i ask the punter if its ok to go on neighbours property 1st if i have to some contractors just dont think and go ahead and take it for granted

Party wall stuff. It’s the scafs that put up scaffolding not the home owner

it would have helped if the house owner had warmed up his neighbours too

most panels rattle when they dry out you just make wooden wedges and tap em in to stop it
