plasmza stopped working /no arc ,,,details below

hi new memeber as i thought id buy a plazma cutter (never used one and i bought this second hand with a fault ,(its not arcing at the nozzle )
first the details
Elektra Beckum Type 280 WP Plasma Cutter ,as its basicly as new ,it powers up and tryed differnert air pressure setting from 20/50/60psi of air which made no differnerce the trigger works as u can hear the relys click,theres also a new tip and cover on the plazma,so anyone any ideas wot part may have gone faulty ,to cause no arc when the air pressures up,and once trigger is pressed and then earthed via then nozzle u get a slight power surge then goes,unsure how good these are ,for a beginer ,as it wasnt expensive ,heres a pic ,if anyone can asist or advise ,it would be really greatfull ,as i really to get this working to remove my pickup bed to fit another ,,

you need to search for a manual, it could be something simple or not.

it looks heavy so it would be transformer based, if light wieght it's inverter based

im unsure wot u mean by heavy or light ,,ive got the manaual ,evern thow ive had to transform it to english to understand the buggar ,ive also found a spares link with prices ,,so if anyone can point out what it maybe ,i dont mind refitting a part to try ,ive checked around instead for any signs of burning/fuses/and dry joints but nothing and everrything dose look really clean and no odd smells form over heated parts ,,heres the part/spares link ,,

That looks quite big. You sure it's single phase?

If the machine has a PSB torch on it check the parts on the torch head, then trigger it and press down on metal, if arc starts then just release downward pressure a little (do not lift off) and start to drag along metal still having trigger depressed. If it has the torch that I think it has they can be bit tricky to use.
Try that first

yearh evern says in the hand book and on the unit ,,as i dont know mutch regards plazma cutters thought this maybe ok for a begineer (if i can get the buggar to arc ,as i was testing parts yeasterday ,and checked the air switchers are all fine and working and the trigger has the right nozzle set up and the gun is like new and triggering working and wireing fine fine ,,checked the main board fuse thats ok ,but i think its the printerd curcit board that is at fault , as surely that is the main part for the ht to start thew the board to the hugh voltage capasicors to power up to make the gun live

cheers me and a friend has tryed a number of ideas and ways and pressure settinging with no joy ,i know when air pressure comes thew the gun ,the triggers stars and stops air either thew when the tip is depressed and and earthed or when the trigger is pressed near steel ,everything seems to be working regards air/trigger/relays ,but all u get when u try to use it is a slight dip in currant either on one or 2 power settings ,,so im going to order a few parts ie the main curcit board and a set of those thin plates with diodes in first ,as i reckon it would be a decent little set up for what i need

Hi,

be aware that there are very high voltages kicking about inside the box!

Can you test all of the diodes and transistors? I had a fault with mine, different design I think as it's a Chinese inverter type, but it turned out to be an open circuit transistor feeding into the torch lead.

If you think you have a faulty transistor C2073 then I can send you a couple of spares (no charge) as I bought a ten-pack.

Elektra Beckum is the Metabo brand name so that should be a good tool. Well done getting it running it should last well, my angle grinder from them did 17 years of abuse before I burnt it out cutting concrete blocks. I got another same make I was so pleased with it.

im unsure regards if its a good or crap brand , but it was basicly brand new , and i bought it as faulty , no arch when trigger was pressed , it cuts 5mm plate fine , very simple and affective to use , too ,beats the grinder and burning tackle for cutting speed pmsl
