God I miss making wine & beer! Beer only ever from kits but every country wine from scratch.

Used to make ginger beer too starting off with a "plant" in a jam jar...root ginger I think it was that you "fed" every day with a spoonful of sugar and powdered ginger from memory. Wish I could find the recipe!

No wonder I did s**t at school!

It was something similar to that was a recipe on Blue Peter. I got some lemonade bottles, got the ingredients and set to.
All went well for a few days, then all the bottles exploded. We were picking pieces of glass out of the kitchen walls and woodwork for days. My Ma had only just left the kitchen when it happened.
I can't help feeling I missed a step when copying the recipe down off the telly.

Pretty cloudy but there's cold crashing still to come, I suppose it'll clear in the keg too, assuming it doesn't get finished this weekend.

Here is one in action. Instead of multiple passes, you do it in one go, machining from the face in, not the outer edge.

I can see how the roller support acts as a follower rest to help keep the narrower pin tip from breaking off as apposed to conventional turning.

No, yes. It operates totally differently to any tool you would normally fit to a toolpost so although the principles are similar the operation is totally different. You can just carry out your normal machining operations, fit this to the tailstock and zoom in, carry out the operation and go straight back to parting off, forming or whatever.
With a travelling steady it is a good bit of setup time if you are fitting the steady every time you are taking a long cut.
