selaey spray gun

i have a selaey gravity fed spray gun and i am wondering, instead of me going to the regulator each time to adjust pressure can i get an attatchment to do it from the gun. when i am spraying gates i am having a problem of one side looking nice and shiny and the other dull and rough. whatever side i spray last is the bits which are nice and smooth. i am spraying at 45 psi. when settin it to 45 swhould it stay at 45 when the trigger is held or 45 before the trigger is hit. has anyone any suggestions what i am doing wrong

working to slow,it's drying by the time you get to the other side.
try a bit more thinners. and move quicker around the job.

as jaykay said ! and at 45psi you will be getting more paint in the atmosphere than on your job ! most car refinishers including me wont top coat at more than 2bar 29psi

Would you stick to that pressure for a conventional gun as well Drew.

they would be normally 8 by 5 foot gates

you should be able to do them.
what paint are you using?also what thinners?

According to prev posts about this it's a conventional gun and a vinyl paint, I have one of those guns and to be honest it's not the greatest... but should do OK. But the 1.4 might be small for that paint, is it thick or thin? 1.7 and 2.0 setups are available for it and cost me around £7 each ... dirt cheap. Rang Sealey direct and they sent them over.

if it is a vinyl paint,it is a pain to spray.it clogs if just a little out on mix.to much/little air will cause you to tear your hair out.i would change over to a enamal.
the gun is not the best,but will do the job.
i cant figure why you have vinyl paint.the only use i have seen it used is by sign makers. for putting on plastics and perspex.

well i am currently using a 2.0mm nozzle and needle and i am using stand rourkes vinylast gloss paint. using hmg thinners with it also. is enamel paint better then and is it much dearer

which one is better for gtes and railings vinyl or enamel and is there much difference and price and also whats the pros and cons for both

price,i dont know,but the time you seem to be wasting could well offf set and differants.
enamels will go hard and be prone to chipping,but if you know it,you can take care.

but in reality, is rourke paint vinylast or enamel. can someone recommend a good enamel paint. can it chip just as easy as powder coating and woudl it be the most had wearing

hmm, how long i a piece of string.
manor paints do some reasonable enamels.you can find them advertising on ebay at times. or search manor-paints.
have you tried spraying from a side angle? do both sides at a angle,then face/front ,then run around and do other front.

i only use hvlp guns or devilbiss trans tech

I had some paint from prontopaint on ebay, they are not far from me and make the paint on site. Mine was floor paint but they do all kinds including quick drying hammer or smooth finish which sounds good for railings.
