Steerable Snow Sledge
If only I'd seen this a month ago my adopted daughter's 5 year old son would have been the crowned prince of the local hill.
However, If you are going to make one of these steerable sledges then you really need to make a second (and maybe even a third!) so you can have some really good fun racing them.
A quick check of NOS (New Old Stock) this morning indicates I have enough ERW steel box section, hemi-joints, stainless steel countersunk set screws, rivnuts and 6mm plywood. etc. to make two steering sled frames and tops. However, I only have three suspension units and I would need 5 more to complete two sleds. I do not have enough thin plywood to laminate up the skis, nonetheless I do have enough gel-coat and light weight fibreglass mat and tape, but insufficient resin and hardener.
Needless to say when I am feeling a little better I'm off out into the workshop to make and paint two of these sledges ready for next winter.
