problem is it cant see the disc.Piriform Recuva is free.
You may not see it in explorer but can you see it in Disk Manager, if yes then a good recovery software should b able to see it and recover anything that's recoverable.problem is it cant see the disc.
Its finding things but it thinks they are .mp4 and .txt.Ive used PhotoRec many times at work when users have accidently formatted their SDs
Yeah it seems that whilst the SD card reader adapter is ok to copy files its not allowing the card to be seen to enable a chkdsk operation. I have managed to get my laptop to see it. But sadly I think its more trouble than its worth. Its full of slived 3D printer files. All of the originals are on the computer, some are even sliced and saved on the hard drive as well as the removable disc but I only did it when I was not in a rush..lol I think I backed up the SD card a while back but not sure..Redirecting

I read this too late I think...I used chkdsk on my laptop that has a dedicated SD card reader. The fact it shows up as unformatted suggests it's electrically intact so recovery may be possible.
First thing is to clone what you can with something like ddrescue then work on the image. Never try anything against the original as you may regret it later.
How certain are you it was a real SanDisk and not a fake one that is actually looped to overwrite itself but look bigger...
Get it cloned before you do anything else, chkdsk may not have done any damage.I read this too late I think...I used chkdsk on my laptop that has a dedicated SD card reader.
As for a fake how do I tell??
is ddrescue available for windows..everything seems linux based? The fact it shows up as unformatted suggests it's electrically intact so recovery may be possible.
