This modern tin plate item was sacrificed for the greater good.

Fitted a lamp holder.
The glass was also replaced with better glass, tempered stuff.

A friend had a 1.8 Coupe that somehow gathered up enough speed to roll itself into somebody's front garden landing on its roof, a quick sledgehammer session and some red Dulux had it drivable for another few months
I've helped do a couple of MG / Rover 200 heads, get the right gasket and metal locating dowels for the head to replace the poxy plastic ones and it should be ok. Make sure the cooling system is spot on first.
I had 7 of them! They were the staple of my dad’s company fleet, I used to buy them, run them for a month or two and move them on for a modest profit, I don’t think they deserved all of the bad press they got

Afternoon using grinder. Chopped a few mm off the parting holder for less over hang. Enlarged the holder its in from 14 to 16mm. Couple mm from the vcmt holder so I can use it in any of tbe standard 14mm holders. Last I removed a bit off the larger boring bar and squared the radius so it sits better under the screws, had it a year and not used it yet.
Need to get some more holders ordered I will never get round to making them, if I do then I will still need more.

Tell me about it, I had five new holders for my little Dixon tool post delivered on Tuesday, spent a while populating them and setting aproximate tool heights and by Thursday I was back to changing tooling around and thinking 'I need to order more tool holders'

Not only fords can do that - in this case on the e39 it was the rubber bush which perished and only dropped like this when hoisted on a lift to investigate a knocking from the front.....
