Torch Issue..

Just a quick one today:

i’ve been going a bit heavy on my WP17 torch this week whilst waiting on my new 26 arriving, but...

my gas is now permanently on, from a switched torch.

is this just a case of throwing a new head on it or am I likely to have fried the torch button switch?

It is still live, if not the valve is stuck in the machine. Try giving it a tappy tap tap.

if it’s still live then is it likely i’ve just cooked the wires to the torch button, or is that a machine issue?

hoping a new torch/button will fix this rather than having to skelp my machine into submission

If the torch is live then likely the button or torch wiring. Unplug from the machine and see, if it stays live then its the machine but that is unlikely.

One other thing, you don't have it in 4T do you? If you do another button press will switch off.

not in 4T, unless the drunken gremlins have been getting in while i’ve been out!

aha!

unplugged the amphenol; stopped gassing. Plugged back in and it gasses, as well as giving a wee Bzzzz as it goes live.

Time to do a touch of soldering I think

Big hammer Big tap is the way to go

Reminds me of an incident one day, a hydraulic control solenoid was sticking on a machine, operator was giving it a tap every so often to keep it going, after a few goes I noticed a bigger hammer had appeared, fast forward another few goes and the BFH appeared, soon after that the valve and machine parted company and 200 lt of hyd oil escaped.
