Yes but they were not what I thought. I then purchased 4 X 1604 as another forum suggested all APKT 16 would fit. But I would rather trust you.Nope, but thought you said you had inserts for the tool?

I will see if I still have an old Sumitomo insert that I can send to you.No weldon shanked, sod all numbers but as you can see a 0903 isn't far off
Bit of a thread hijack..but this is a subject i need help with !!
I have a **** load (80+) of ADKT 0903 PER-AL inserts my understanding is they are for aluminium. I have no holder for them and i think it's a size that has dissapeared ??
I thought I'd got lucky recently in the shop, I got some insert cutters (missing any inserts..ARGH) on first inspection it looked like the pocket fitted ADKT 0903 but it doesn't it's slightly too big
Wonder if anyone runs any of these in AP*T or AD*T in 1003 or 1103 that has a dead insert i can test for size in this cutter
It is possible the 02 in the tool number refers to the teeth. If a 1604 insert looks like it sits flush then it should be fine, it it looks like it is protruding then.....
@ukracer I cant find any reference to 2mm apkt16's so you might be lucky of its just model number of the tool. The next common size down is 1103, so I doubt 1602's exist.
I have a reground 1103 if you want to try.
You could turn down the tool OD and shim the pocket on an 1003/1103 tool if its the same screw size. Or www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Walter-Schaftfraser-16-F3042-K-016-Z02-09-fur-APKT-0903/273930990189
On alu I dont see the advantage of small millling inserts. Large facemills are great, but then you want 1604's or bigger.
For uncommon inserts, ccmt goes as small as 0301 for boring bars Cost more than solid bars too, Im not sure why they exist.

2 flutes mate..Could well be that it is 1604 and the 02 in the tool code refers to flutes/teeth. How many teeth does the tool have?

Looks to be the case so 1604 look likely to be correct.
From the ZCC-CT catalogue.

Number 9 is the 02 on your tool and

Mate I am grateful to those who take time to reply...Problem solved then, shouldn't listen to me
At least we got there in the end.
Yes Kram but I posted the listings in an attempt to clarify things.A great deal of the confusion is likely due to the source of the listings you have posted. The Chinese stuff has optimistic labelling, often done on the basis that the more combinations mentioned, the more views the item will have and the more sales will result.
If you want to translate the codes, you need to look at the full range of their offerings and see how each group of letters/digits changes when shank size, number of inserts etc. changes. Looking at just one tool gives you too narrow a window to draw any conclusions.
In addition, you start the thread by asking about insert codes and then it morphs into toolholder codes. The two are not the same.
Don't see the full description so can't be 100% sure or not but if he is referring to the 04 bit in an insert code of APKT1604 then that 04 is the thickness. An insert with the radius of 04 would be listed as APKT160404 the bold being the radius (0.4mm). Lathe tools are nearly always designated that way but milling tools can often have letters which designates the edge shape such as APKT1604PDTR, see below.
Had a look today and I have an unused Sumitomo APMT100304PDER and also a damaged one. I also have some, I think, Iscar inserts, one definitely unused and three that may have had some use. I think they are AP**1003.Bit of a thread hijack..but this is a subject i need help with !!
