Checked all the bulbs, Even gave it a clean inside & out

It depends what it is.
I used to call the MOT the "scrap or fix" test.

If it's a fiddly little job that can be done in an hour with £10 of parts, then there's no point in paying 50 or 60 quid in labour - plus transport costs to and from the garage.

I try and keep my vehicles "road worthy" all the time - I've even been known to fix stuff six months before the MOT is due.

Welding the underneath of cars is dog"s work though. I'd rather get rid and buy another.
(But I tend to buy "end of life" vehicles and eke 12 months out of them - especially vans)

It is starting to cross my mind these days I won't lie!

I never like it when any of my vehicles have failed. But I always like them to be in roadworthy condition

I always seem to have a doubt in my mind even when I'm pretty confident it will pass

Maybe I'm a little too proud & care too much? Fingers crossed!

I had a lexus[1]
I had to get rid to get an estate car (I was devastated). I'd forgotten cars could fail.

[1] it never failed an MOT in 7 years.

@bigegg I've never had a vehicle fail on anything major

Last failure I had several years back was a coil spring, But I classify that as wear & tear. As they are a pretty common thing

I always act on advisories when needed

Disco MOT was always an expensive trip, but thats the landrover life

L200 flew through its MOT, I did treat it to new tyres and brakes before it was due though

once took my mk3 escort van in for mot 2 weeks before due and said to the guy if it fails on anything i have a couple of days to fix it went back and he said how many days . why he showed me the fail list as long as my arm paid him for the test and scrapped the van

Quick question.. My vans mot was up on the 30th..its taxed and insured and parked up on the drive off the road.
Can I just leave it a month or so while I mess around with it or do I need to sorn it or something, always got my motors done earlier before..

that what I thought if it fails you have whatever is left b4 it runs out but that's not the case if it fails a month b4 the test certificate you cant use the car its got to be retested as its not fit for the road I lost a month thinking I've got leeway to take it back hahaha

all online now so if it fails thats it you cant use it as its on the dvla system instantly

I believe you should SORN it, But probably best to check. Insurance companies use any excuse!

That happened to one of my transits.
Scrap man picked it up with the "claw" and the floor+ running gear fell out of the bottom of the body - sills and wheel arches completely rotted through.
(I'd already sold the engine + gear box)

Good luck. Did you sort that glow plug in the end? I’m the same as you with trying to make sure everything passes.

As long as it's taxed and insured, and off the road, it's fine.
You can only drive it on the road to the MOT station for a pre-booked MOT.
Your insurance won't be valid if it's not "roadworthy" - so make sure you have receipts for any bits that you've bought to get it through MOT just in case someone runs into you on the way to retest
