Morning all.
My experience with paint in minimal to non-existant i.e. a pot of hamerite with a brush and I tend to make more of a mess than make it look nice (painting is also my least favourite thing to do)
I've got a few bits and pieces to make workshop and tool related - a welding trolly, some rollers to support stock when cutting it and so on so wondered what the general concensus is on what to coat them with?
I've had a look around and there seems to be a lot of different types of paint and I'm at a bit of a loss.
I'm looking for as cheap as possible as its not show pieces by any stretch of the imagination! Though I do want a decent finish and its got to be hardwaring as some of the things are likely to have steel dragged over them/get knocked and bashed about so dont want the paint chipping and scratching too easily.
Not really interested in going down the spraying route as I have no compressor for a start (one day, but not for a while yet!)
Also don't want to go near anything thats going to kill me without more than a simple mask.
So rattle can or brush? How do the costs compare?
I'm reluctant to go for rattle cans as I'm only going to use odd bits at a time so will the nozels clog and waste a whole can, or is this more a myth?
Should I go for a primer? Simple red oxide or fork out a bit more for something 'posher'?
Does laquer make much of a difference?
What is machinary/coach enamel like? As this sounds like a good option from what I can see
