Hi All
New here so don't be too hard on me.
Just got a new Kende 160F and it says that the max amps it needs is 36!and 11 amps min. Just wondering could i run it on a 13 amp power if I was only welding at 110amps??

Cripes, that's an obscure reference. Everyone else does links. In this case the thread is not relevant so I'll not add the link.

Sorry to say that the Kende MIGs are nasty and Chinese so are much more heavy on the power supply than ordinary MIGs. That means they will blow fuses at lower amps than a decent cheap welder. Massive big ugly spikes on these dudes Brightspark.

Best advice I can think of is to give it a try. It ought to work on the lowest setting on a 13 amp supply. It will be trial and error to see which higher settings the fuse will cope with. Please report back as I don't believe we have this data on the forum yet. We normally try to steer members away from the Kende brand.

supply current can be checked out for not a lot of money buy a digital clampmeter screwfix sell them 21 quid . easy to use by anyone .clip it over one of the phase wires eg live core. start using apliance take reading on meter direct readout of amps being drawn they also have leads on for testing voltage 0 to 600volts ac 0 to 600 dc so can be used on the car as well/ test small transformers on tv mobile phone anything hope this helps sumone here are 2 of my work meters about £100 a piece but for what u are doing the cheap ones are fine

Didn't read through your reply completely, just saw £21 and then your Fluke picture, you won't get one of them for that!!! My first Fluke M/M after completing my apprenticeship was well over £200, and some kind person thought they needed it more than me. Then I loaned my brother a fluke clamp meter similair to yours, he left it on site overnight where there were other sparks working, needless to say it also dissappeared, as well as my dewalt 18v cordless!!!

Sorry i was away for so long i was abroad setting up a workshop and they have no internet. I Tried it on 13amp plug a blew the fuse in a few seconds but the I got an RDC for a shower put that in my fuse box put one of those huge blue scokets on the wall and a plug to match on the welder. Its an arc welder not a mig and it is quite good although I prefer the lincoin inverter 160amps.
