Cast iron frame.
They are very good for drill small hoes up to 8mm.

Your wrong, made in 1964, made in metalwork at school, copied from a Stanley & the frame was fabricated & brazed. Good try though.

I know it’s not a breast drill, I have one as well that the TYA covets, not homemade, he’s unlucky......
The chuck I couldn’t make, I had to buy that. The gears were cut using a dividing head on a school Myford from what I recall. It’s a long time ago now, when schools made things, wouldn’t be allowed now, braze the frame up ..... nooooo

Who remembers the Rawlplug asbestos plugging compound? Orange & blue tin, still got an empty tin in the shed. Found a full cardboard replacement pack of the stuff a couple of years ago clearing a workshop. Proper blue asbestos. That got disposed of properly through the school science technicians.

dad brought a blue tin from work called fillplug just wet it and push it in hole and put screw in . remember pulling a bit out as a kid

The chuck looks similar to a Stanley 803 - the slot at the top is the feature that sticks out.
