Why an arc welder alongside a tig...

For me...mobility. I wouldn't like to have to drag the TIG to an outside job and pull my back. Long leads may work but a mini arc welder is super light and portable...


(The TIG is currently wintering in a spare bedroom (aka "dumping ground"))

I was also looking at a Stahlwerk, Ipotools and more of the same with different name. In my (re)search I came across this forum and the Sherman.
I have the Sherman now, it's lovely and if I may add; so very quiet thanks to the "intelligent" cooling fan, which I really adore, a nice bonus!

Don't worry about people telling you it's difficult to learn TIG welding, just go for it..... You had to learn to ride a bicycle, it's the same with welding.
To me TIG welding is a form of art....

Aye but the Sherman 206p is probably not much bigger than your stick welder Personally I prefer to have a dedicated stick, saves me having to unplug the Tig torch, gas etc if I am going out and about to do stick welding.

No no I have and old stick welder.

So, the Sherman looks pretty well and it has a good price. But there is no web, there is nothing in the internet. But if you say it is ok, you are how knows. Ant it is able to pedal control.

It has arrived!! It looks veeery good machine, has a lot of options and good things.

Maybe they are not the best, maybe horrible, but they are my first welds (ok, they are the second try haha)

In the thicker ones I tried with low amperage.

Look into local supplier of shielding gas, it’s not cheap in the small bottles,
and you will pay rent on the larger ones, they are bulky and best suited in
a trailer.
Welding aluminium will require a pure argon, which is no good for mild steel.
I would advise a tig welder for aluminium, it needs to be AC, with frequency adjustment.

There are many multi process welders, some do mig and tig.
