bandssaw blades ,

Does anyone know of a supplier of decent blades its just for one of the generic small bandsaws (clarke 6 x4 in this case) .
Like a few others on here i used to use Dragon saws , i belive they are no longer trading tho

I willhave a quick scan on e bay but i expect they will cheap nasty ones like machine mart

Any input much appreciated

I too would be interested in any suppliers of these blades as the machine mart blades I bought last month are a pile of poo

My last blade from 'dragon saws' lasted a full two years and took some abuse, I still have it but there are loads of teeth missing which causes it to jam up.

buy a roll of blade and make your own . make a small jig to clamp ends together vee the 2 ends braze together grind of excess = cheaper blades

A mate has a roll, he picked up somewhere. I've been looking for some, but with no luck

All good quality gear used them for the last ermmmmmmmmm longer than i can recall.

I think Cromwells and MSC J&L do them - not sure about small saws, but worth a look. Al.

I'm not sure what the score is with cromwells these days. They did have a big revamp some time ago and got rid of their cutting/ tool grinding facility. I'm not sure if that included their blade section to. Seems anything that was to hands on was to costly so they binned it.


The guys i use above have always knocked others into a cock hat for prices and very decent quality blades that do last very, very well especially their Bi-metal blades. The bi-metals i have from them i have had for literally years and cut meter upon metre and steels up to 3 " thick that's on a vertical band saw. Very rare to get a blade break from those guys. Plus the knowledge base the boss has for difficult applications is second to none.

I think the thing to remember with blades is its not cost effective to buy cheap or sometimes medium price ranges. Much more cut for your buck from decent blades.
