So today I started making the mounts and a fork lift frame for this engine cradle. Still another days work but I’ve done the hardest bits. The two rear mounts that I started on had the same hole patters. So I started out cutting a bit of the flat bar we bought (130mm x 10mm) to size and the drilling the holes out. As you can see it fitted and I used it as a template for the other side.
Once I drilled the other side I cut it to length. I then marked the top of the frame rails with a scribe onto the engine mount. Then I measured up 11mm, 10mm for the thickness and 1mm for a clearance which worked out perfect. As you can see from this next pic I welded some box section to the bar and using some heat I bent it over.
This is it bent and fitted. Needs a gusset and two holes and that’s done.
Back to the other side. The starter motor is in the way so I tacked the plate on where I wanted it.
Then welded it solid in the vice
Using a pipe and eyeing it I bent it round the pipe in a vice. Then bent the 90 on the bottom, here’s it fitted
Cut it to length and it looks like this very pleased. Also needs two holes and a gusset but I ran out of time tonight.
I’ll post some more when I finish it in a couple weeks.
