The 400 might be overdoing it, unless your cars model name starts with 'Sherman' and ends with 'Tank'.
(I'm assuming it's a 400A jobbie)

Aye, it'll be a good machine. Ideal auto jobbie I'd have thought. Murex are a good make and there'll be spares available.

Mike, there's a rake of good small migs for sale on ebay at the mo - cebora in 30 mins, telwin, esab and that murex, and others. It's the smallest of the lot and only 100A, but should be fine for anything on a car. Not much good for anything heavier though. I might be inclined to go for something a tad bigger if it wasn't just for auto work.

Murex is a top bit of kit that will go on for ever, it will make learning very easy (Assuming you need to learn!), and be a pleasure to use. Spares/service will always be available.
Spose it's just a case of picking the most suitable sized for what you plan to do with it.

murex were a good name for industrial mig welders, the 151 is very poor quality it would overheat if the sun came out, no fan fitted, plastic wire feed motor, gun hose held on by inner lining only, in all you would just be spending money keeping it going,
better to get s/h tradesmig had a used one for over 10 yrs used it every day no problems.
