Its a StripperWhat is it?
It's a rope cutter for a prop shaft -like this but my shaft isn't splined (ooer) https://www.ropestripper.com/images/banner-stripper-sd.pngWhat is it?
Interesting. Should be do-able as @Hood said. 4 jaw chuck, clamp some sacrificial aluminium in the gaps and take one skim out of the bore 0.2mm will take you out to inch. It's a rope cutter for a prop shaft -like this but my shaft isn't splined (ooer) https://www.ropestripper.com/images/banner-stripper-sd.png
I'm trying to work the parts out the instructions aren't great for my purposes. Yes it's a tiddler: my boat's only lickle. Thanks, though as the main thing is it's doable. I haven't got a lathe & woud get it done locally but didn't want to buy it and then find it couldn't be machined. Cheers.Looking closer at your pic it actually looks like there has been an insert put in there, normally that is not there unless it is a thing on the smaller sets, usually the ones I work with are 1.1/2" upwards.
As said I don't think it is normal to have that spacer/bush in there. Looks to me like they have been made to fit a smaller shaft than originally intended.I'm trying to work the parts out the instructions aren't great for my purposes. Measure the Bush. Could just then make up a new bush and the stripper wouldn’t have to be touched at all. Thanks Hood & Brad. I'll go for it then
Yes, I couldn't work it out... That's an interesting point wrt overall size. However, I went & pulled the trigger on it after you reply, so will find out in a few days time. It was priced to be worth the gamble - these things are not cheap as you know. If it's too big I can sort out the minor niggles & sell it on but hope it's OK.This is what it should be like.

They have added in a bush to reduce the size. My concern with that would be the physical size of the stripper may be too big for your prop size.
As long as the hub is not bigger than the boss of your prop you should be ok.Yes, I couldn't work it out... That's an interesting point wrt overall size. They are cast and not sure exactly the type of stainless but they have to keep a decent edge so I think 316 would be too soft.Just stainless aren’t they? Could make one of those on the plasma and weld it to a hub then finish bore it to size.
Don't they fit on the woodruff key on the prop?Yes, I couldn't work it out... That's an interesting point wrt overall size. They fit behind the prop on the straight of the shaft.Don't they fit on the woodruff key on the prop?
And it wouldn't it need to be conic?
Curious. They fit behind the prop on the straight of the shaft.
