I don't like braided flexible pipes either, you can't assess the state of them.and i can assure you braided pipe can be worse than actually leaving the pipe open

use the finger of my glove!to retain a nut or bolt into a socket ,simply tear off a corner of newspaper /tissue and place over the head then onto the socket , sounds a bit daft but works like magic , its free and the paper falls off and blows away with no fear of dropping something in a hidden area
