a general query here i understand i need to fasten down the metal to keep it steady to machine it
but how much torque do you use to fasten it down
i dont want to snap my t slots like so many machine tables ruined by over zealous people
im using the hand shaper first
under presumption the table should be true level to shape or plane upon ?
Also another query here ive got this 3/4 round to straighten level first before i can straighten the face front
ive noted doubleboost fastening over the top but im going fully across the materials full length 6"
if i fasten it in the middle and at one end down solid so it cant move then i can plane its front edge fasten it down then undoe the middle plane across it then fasten it down and finish the last bit
would this be the right way to do it ?
note my shaper can only do 6" so i presume its best to go across it than try to go fully across the material in one go
then straighten the front edge before straightening the rear edge
im trying to make up the head for my older milling machine it bolts on either side and the middle is just bored out for the bearings and inner fitting so i can use it
