Name this connector

I know they're dead common and dirt cheap but I don't know the name and don't want to spent all day scrolling down RS if I can avoid it.


It connects the volume pots on my amp to the PCB. One of the pots is faulty so I want to replace it but the amp is under warranty so I want to replace it in such a way that I can un-replace it easily should something else break and I need to send it off, that means no soldering. I'll swap out the pot, cable and connector for both channels, might get posh multiturn pots too.

Check the pin pitch, there are 2mm, 2.5mm and 0.1" pitches that look pretty much identical!

Too easy. Cheers Aff, they look spot on. I'll take it apart again and measure the pitch later.

It's a shame uni is mostly closed, there's an electrical store room I'm certain will have them and save me having to buy 20 just to use 2.

Let me know the pitch / number of pins and I'll rummage - the crimpers for the pins are hellofa spendy though
I get the tiddly pliers out and then solder them...

Thanks a lot. It looks to be 2mm pitch, I need a 3 pin and a 4 pin if you've got them. I'm well versed in the soldering of tiny crimp terminals.

Behringer finally got back to me (Over a week later) about fixing it, they either want to collect it to repair it or will refund me (Not sure if I get to keep it ). They also emailed again after I didn't immediately reply to say they'll cancel the request if I don't get back to them. I've asked them if they'll send out a spare.


If I do end up replacing it myself, I see some pots listed as "logarithmic" and some listed as "audio", I assume they're the same thing?

Sorry, can only find the 0.1" spacing - was sure I had some of the metric ones...

Re the pots, "audio taper" and logarithmic are the same but you're unlikely to get multi-turn log pots, I've never seen any!

I'm trying to find another amp to use while this one's away now, probably more at the HiFi rather than PA end of the spectrum.

Multiturn *linear* pots aren't a lot of money on EvilBay, and usually come with the little turns counter dials, I have a couple to set max/min on my VFD controller and they've been good enough!

Amplifiers... If you can find one, the old Arcam Alpha is a superb little HiFi amp, only 30W/channel but very clean as far as distortion and noise floor go, I have one driving a pair of 70's B&W DM2 transmission line monitors (ex-BBC Radi0 3 monitoring room...) - did a party for a mate's 50th and they didn't sound loud - just when you noriced everyone was miming... Excellent phono stage as well.

Engineer brand crimp tools are reasonably decent for a lot of the JST type crimps and significantly cheaper than the proper handle/die sets from JST - https://www.engineer.jp/en/products/pa09e.html

Yeah I have the engineer crimping tool and a few sets of jaws BUT if you’re not in a rush you can buy a lot of fly leads with plugs on them from aliexpress.

they’ve even started doing micro-fit shells and precrimped wire in different colours, which is nice.
