Extraordinary lighting conditions at the local Wickes. Sunlight was reflecting off some massive windows at just the right angle. It really made the bike look way, way better and cleaner than it really is.

I popped in to see if I ould collect a couple of rolls of roofing felt for an urgent job. The simple (obvious) answer is "no" but if you never try, you never get. I wandered over to the bike marvelling at it's glory having failed miserably to even pick up those 25kg rolls, let along stuff one halfway into my biggest rucksack.

A black cab pulled up alongside. "Oh, hello, err, I wonder if I might ask a cheeky question..."

And yes, not only did he take the two rolls of precious roofing felt (I quoted a stupidly high price for the job i really didn't want!) back to mine but he refused to accept payment. Good timing too with the last two dry days before the rains cometh.

Well, never say "never" but around here it's a lot more tricky to get caught. Da police are pretty busy and London is a maze of side roads and back streets. I'm sure I'll feel a tug one of these days but that's been on there for decades, only gets swapped to the gigantic version for mots.

Reminds me, in my youth i recall carrying 2 off 2 metre lengths of 1" diameter continually classed 60/40 brass that i had been experimenting with a zircomium based grain refiner with while casting to a plumbing fitting manufacturer to test making fittings with.

My Professor asked me to take them, I foolishly said no problem and had them sticking out the back of my bike as I held the front of them with the bars bungied to the rear carrier as I rode across Dundee and was very lucky not to have an accident or damage my paintwork.

IIRC it had a tiny oil capacity so regular oil changes were a must. Big four stroke single, no battery, kickstart that nearly took off my leg and an exhaust that would wake the dead. Also wearing racing wets. You couldn't go too far on the thing, it would rattle your teeth out - no counterbalance in the engine either...

Trust me, that's a totally different kettle of fish. My Husky weighed in at just over 100kg. It was like a ridiculously powerful bicycle. The only other bike I have tried which was equally mental was a Husaberg FS650. That was just plain evil.

I do have a couple of CR500 (two strokes) in the shed waiting for me to rediscover my biking mojo. I assume they should end up fairly potent. Problem is, I actually do have a feint heart so...

Now we're talking. I have a gen IV GT, twinscroll rather than twin turbo.

I do have a couple of CR500 (two strokes) in the shed waiting for me to rediscover my biking mojo. I assume they should end up fairly potent. Problem is, I actually do have a feint heart so...

I have an oldish pair of USD forks, I was told were from a CR500 two stroke, any chance we could compare pictures/ sizes

Is that the one the Swedish nuts used to race in the SOS championship? It has no oil pump just splash (or vibration) lubricated?

err sure. Keep reminding me, they’re in the garage somewhere. One is an older steel frame (road Reg) the other is an AF conversion I did years ago from a CR125/250

Dunno. I heard it was based on the CR500 bottom end. Top end looks like a crankshaft and piston assy has been shrink wrapped. No meat on that thing at all. If you could get it going it went like a bomb. Err yeah, I think I’ll just leave it there...

I was looking at the 700 husky, service intervals were stupidly low and stupidly expensive. As much as I’d like one, not gonna happen

I also had a husaberg 501 with the Mx box , sold it after a week, it was just too much. Couldn’t go anywhere on 2 wheels, and off-road all it wanted to do was kill you
