And get some real fixings, those look awfulBest way to gauge mounting position is to clamp a long rod vertically within the jaws, & site the vice so you just have a gnats clearance between the front of the bench & the back of the rod.
Oh, & line it up square with the bench whilst you're at it.![]()

if you don’t the sharpe edges may shatter the metal under tension
