Cad drawings for an 8 yard skip wanted

if anybody knows where I can find specs and drawings for an 8 yard skip could you please let me know.

Walk out door with tape measure, pencil and paper in pocket. Find nearest house that is being renovated. Apply tape measure to skip and pencil to paper.

It weather is bad, take two sticks of a known dimension. Carry to skip in street. Lay one horizontal on skip. Stand one vertical on skip. Take out phone. Snap picture. Print out. Use a scale rule.

Can we still make things like skips in this country? The last lot I had made were delivered in for less than the price of the steel/folding.

Spot on Chris, never knew that at the time. It was an ebay purchase and I needed six four yard skips fully welded so I could float them in the river, company said no problem and they turned up a week later painted in our colours for £180 each, that is a lot of steel, folding,welding , painting and transport for £180 all in. He also pointed out they were made in a high grade steel

Ive spent quite a bit of time in Polish Metal Fab companies in Gdańsk and Łódź.

Easy to see why they are so cheap

Well we made the poles unwelcome and trained them, now they are from experience one of largest buyers of wood working machines.

Friend cleared his factory all went to Poland

Its not a new thing - over a decade ago a I designed a machine base that went to a UK companies Polish affliate - had to do a rapid redesign to take advantage of the lower cost by swopping out UK imperial sized channel for metric. Something like £3000 from memory.

Recently had a nibble about another - quote from a UK company - well over £15,000 . . .even allowing for the decade, thats quite a jump . . .

About ten years old now and still good, I don't know the grade of steel used but they are out in the drink /weather and the rust is just a light dusting.

What!! That is crazy cheap. They really would have to have a tremendous throughput to make any money on that....

Holy cow, we paid £700 for two 1-tonne lifting bins and that was a good 5 or 6 years ago.

Probably they wanted to get on the market, there is no way they’ve made any profit on them skips, sheet of 3mm steel 3mx 1.25m is About 50 quid. You need 2 and a bit for a skip...Add folding, welding, painting and transport and they made a loss or barely broken even on them skips...sometimes you need to loose some to gain some !
