I think I got my Mitutoyo DTI from HR Roberts, found the prices very agreeable.

MSC have the standard this month, Cutwel have 15%.
Next month MSC will have the Quantumike.

I took a chance on a spi bore gauge
I can’t bare to bin it but I’m certainly not risking a job by using it

Sure even if you get a year out of them for that money, they are costing you sfa. I like the mitutoyo's i bought, with my eyesight not what it was, the ability to read digits off a screen is so much easier than which lines line up.

This is the problem I'm worried about on a cheap mic.

Measuring a cylinder at the top of the anvil, ~ 14.04mm

In the middle of the anvil, 14.05mm

At the bottom of the anvil, 14.07mm

Total junk!

Ended up buying these, three with mechanical displays and Vernier for the thousandths of a mm, but couldn't find a 70-100mm at a price I could afford, so went with the conventional 0.002mm Starrett.

The two in the middle were still in sealed bags, very nice.

These Mitutoyo digit mics are nice, clear easy reading for most parts but the vernier scale for the fine work.
Never been a fan of the Starrett I am afraid, just something about the feel of them I dislike.

Same here, though i do like the rest of the Starrett tools. I always found the mitutoyo mic's a cut above everything else.
