Hi guys,
I've just bought a Clarke MIG151EN after having a look through the buying advice section on here. Managed to get out and have a play this afternoon, started with some angle iron I want to make a bearing support bracket out of for my lathe's countershaft. I messed up the cuts and ended up with about a 4mm gap when it was bent to 90degrees and decided to just have a go at filling it with weld. It looks pretty terrible and the angle has shrunk a little from 90 so I'll call this a practice run before making the thing proper haha.
I'm happy enough with this as my first attempt in about 15 years given I only had an hour of playing about then and about a half hour playing with some TIG kit and an auto darkening helmet that didn't work half the time a few weeks back. It's stuck together and I got away without sticking it too hard to the vice so it's successful to some degree.
I'll be looking to get an auto darkening mask first and the gear needed for gas as and when I work out which way to go on that route.
Big thanks for the advice on here and hello! I look forward to picking up the skill.
Cheers,
Morgan
