What size stock did you start with for the tongs?

5x25 mm but IMO you should not use this size, they where too thin. 6x25 minimum, 8 or 10mm even better.

Or 16x16 mm square bar, but then you use a different procedure, I used flat bar and twisted the bits, like this, figured it was an easier method for a beginner:

Hacked off a bit at the back of the cylinder holder and managed to squeeze the cooler in behind.

Also chopped up a bit of 4" x 4" x 1/4" box then welded some 5mm plate to it and then fitted it to the Alu plate I fitted inside the van the last day. Now have a place to hold the mouse and the USB charging cable. Next job will be to sort out the laptop charger, probably just use some 3m pads to fix it to the Alu.

@Hood, aye looking good, but could you no make it swivel out towards the rear of the van, would it make easier to use ? so you could use it standing up from outside, instead of having to half crouch, bend yoursel double to get into it inside the van??

I just turn it sideways on the tray

Knocked up a heap of these today, some 2 legged, some 3 legged. 20 and 10mm stainless bar.
Some conveyor side guides hang on them.

Ends of the bars all polished, bars bent and tooling marks polished out. Just need aciding and ready to fit the weekend.

Today I made a bracket so I could fit a router to my lathe.
I want to cut a slot on the face of an alloy part and I dont have a mill.
I managed to do it with a modified cut off tool and tiny boring bar made from a ground down HSS tool blank but it was a slow process
It took less time to make the bracket than modify the lathe tools.

Started with an off cut of round bar and drilled and opened it out to the size of the router collar.





Then cut the ring with a hacksaw and used a milling cutter in the lathe to form a cutout for a 5mm locking bolt.



Drilled and tapped for a 5mm bolt and I had a connection to the router
Then welded some bar off cuts to allow it to be mounted on the lathe tool holder



Mounted the bits in the lathe to line everything up and tacked it together.



And welded it up on the bench.







It does work, but I wouldn't fancy its chances with steel.



I can buy the bits I'm trying to make for £30.
I must be nuts.

It was Monday and this afternoon’s work technically but I started making another flat tracker tail unit and then moved on to making some blisters to cover the shock mounts on the Suzuki.

A good person, north of the A303 did me a favour and did a FANTASTIC job of repairing some brass Connecting rods.



The Good human turned off the remains of broken studs on the RHS of the above items, drilled and taped the ends to 2BA

So I could get round to finishing an item.



The old studs fitted into 4 taped holes on the metal base adjusting feet holders. But the feet had a recess already machined into them. So a new round head screws could be used.



Fitted, the original brass washers were saved.



All done. Even fitted the one lead seal as well.

Yes, it works.
The wood is still drinking the wax, but I am sure it will stop soon.

Not made, but stripped, cleaned, reassembled this today. Kind of like a radiator. Lots of individual plates and gaskets all squeezed together.

A window grille ,spoiling a beautiful sash window,it is level,I just couldn’t photograph square on due to plants in the way.had it powder coated,cementing in the mounting lugs,then ground over the screw heads.
Very rare that I do a job in a town,actually witnessed a traffic jam and a parked problem,couldn’t wait to get home.
