Name of a bit of kit..

I’m terrible at drawing and want some outlines of birds ( the feathered type )

I remember years ago seeing a bit of kit that you could follow the outline of a picture and it would make the outline on another bit of paper only bigger.

Hope that makes sense and does anyone know what they are called??

Overhead projector and clip art or vector images does a great job.

Our local library has a A2 photocopier, 10p a sheet I think.
Copy from A4 and enlarge.
You can then cut the A2 sheet up into 4 pieces and do each one again.
That will give you a life size outline of a (small) pony for 50pences.

You could carry on like this but after the 2nd time you might want to go over the 2nd lot with a marker pen before putting through a 3rd time.

Adjust to the correct size on screen.
Tracing paper over the PC screen.
Trace through.

@chunkolini would probably need a 120" monitor.

I'm in the overhead projector camp, but look on ebay for sketch-o-graph that's the name of the toy you might be remembering.

We needed something similar a few years ago, from memory we put the picture into a free internet program and told it how many sheets of A4 to stretch it out on. We ended up with several sheets to clip together they were numbered at the edges with arrows to line up and each sheet had an overlap.

Just googled reflectograph and the only hits are old reel to reel tape recorders or infrared reflectography (which i'm pretty certain you didn't have as a kid )

Skip a step and use a projector to hit the object in question for tracing.
