Moving a Jeep XJ

Had to move one of my spare XJ's tonight. The gearbox is out of it so doesn't drive and I didn't fancy hand winching it onto the trailer.

Got inventive with some synthetic winch rope and a snatch block





The trailer is hooked up to the tow bar on my camper and the rope pulled by my working XJ

Can't help thinking that tying the rope a bit shorter might have been easier

@outofthefire it was a 30m synthetic winch rope, my rope tying skills ain't great and didn't want to end up with a knot I couldn't undo

It was a very real prospect, once lined up I put some chocks on the trailer just in case

Surely you can manage a figure of 8?

They can be a bit of a pig sometimes to undo but because you can "break their back" you'll always get them undone. Hence why they're used a lot in the climbing world, although if you're going to take big falls most people prefer the bowline.

Bowline knot is the one of choice to undo easily.
