Double glazed upvc windows....

So this morning I measured up six windows in the house.

Three the same dimensions.

Three all different.

Hit the bricodepot website, found similar corresponding sizes in stock.

Example:

100 cm wide, by 155 cm high, yep....

Just unloaded them and...

105 cms wide by 157cms high.

Correct reference.

WTF?

Yes bloody French.

Really confused. I will make them fit.

I went to order a large 3 sided UPVC bay window, supply only and they said that with bays they had to send their surveyor around to measure it and that would cost £20 extra. I objected to that and said I would take the risk on my measurements so they relented and said the surveyor would be in our area the following day and would call and measure it free.
The top of the old frame was behind the barge board and you guessed it, we took the old bay out and with all the front room open to outside the new bay was 30mm too high to fit in the gap!! We had to take out a layer of Accrington brick from below the window and slice the bricks to get the window in.
I would have complained but I suppose I should have double checked it myself before we started.

Hopefully it's just cole chisel though cement, failing that it's the big grinder with a stone cutting disk.

Half of them was the closest size. No issues.

Some will require fettling.

Just doesn't make sense ( to me, grrrr).

All of them are consistently 5 cms wider, than advertised size, and 2 cms higher, supplied with a piece of 3 cm thick extrusion which goes on the top. For some reason unknown to me.

The extrusions are going to be binned.

Luckily they were closest sizes as nothing is to spec.

Be ok, just another pain in the butt.

Ho hum....
