I went over to clear out my late father-in-law's garage today.
Wrapped up under a table I found the engine, gearbox and carb from a Vauxhall Royale.
While fiddling through some paperwork, the wife found the invoices from when he had it stripped and rebuilt back in 1988 and it's just sat there since. Work includes strip & paint, performance ground cams, new pistons & bearings, new valves, guides & seats, everything machined & balanced... the list goes on.
It's an Opel 28H engine with a GM A41 gearbox. There's also a Solex 4A1 carb with it.
It's in pretty reasonable nick although the sump is looking a bit jiffy. It turns over easily by hand and looks spanking under the cam cover - the plugs even look new.
I've got the starter and viscous fan for it too.
The carb wasn't stored very well and could use a spruce up:
So, what do you think? I've had a quick look about and haven't seen anything apart from the carb for sale. Classic GM stuff isn't something I've exactly got a wealth of knowledge about.
Oh, and I found some old cans of Waxoyl if anyone is interested. They're probably a similar vintage!

Cheers,
Fro
