This paraffin blow torch was donated to me to give to MIS.
But it was imposible for them to get work correctly. But they could not pin point the issues.
I said I would have a look.
Small one lower RHS.
I had it in bits, nothing was found to be wrong.
The camera went flat so few images.
Pump rod and cup washer.
The slotted part in the cup can be adjusted to adjust the fit in the pump bore.
The NRV was fine, the sealing washer on the pump rod was fine to the eye and a quick poke. But the edges had gone hard. Any leak will cause issues.
The other issues were the back of the jet was full off something altogether unpleasant. The nut that holds the burner assembly to the body was scored. But a bit of emery cloth and all was well.
Warm up.
Now, this is always the dangerous part after a rebuild.
But if you are careful it will be ok.
I always replace all the seals, not matter what.
20 pumps on the pump, or less. You are looking for a dribble of fuel from the jet.
Add the meths and light.
Then stand back.
The view from the wrong end.

Pound up some broken flow pot into a fine powder, the finer the better.
Mix with medical spirits into a cream like paste. Clean the cracks well.
Tape and firm hand pressure will allow it to hold together. Fill any cracks or voids.
Warming fire. The heat needs to be gentle at first. To drive out moisture and cure the slip.
How hot can it get?
Lead wheel weights (OK modern version of lead wheel weights.) In a old thing I made years ago.

It's not some weird camera effect, it's about five milimeters wider than it is tall and really needs wrestling into the socket, I actually had to bend the pins straight a few months ago.No idea how it happened, I've got two of them the same, both been hung over a hook for years so they've not been stood on or squashed.
