Most of us have our Idiotic followers when trying to sell something, I started off by getting into a polite conversation about why I imagined my item was worth 27 times more than they were offering but patience has run dry nowadays
This was a message from a Faceache user and my reply, No conversation just a Thumbs up and where to go

I put a vintage generator on some FB specialist groups for £75, had someone from Uganda offer me £50
Sold it to someone from the groups for the asking price, he even gave me an extra fiver for helping to partially dismantle it to get it in his car

I had two old Wolf end grinders on FB for quite a while and was about to dump them when a chap offered £40 and arranged to collect them. Lovely Polish chap turns up and enthused over his good fortune and was I sure that's all I wanted. I had a commercial steam cleaner i wanted rid of and he wanted that but said he had no money on him. "Take it, I don't want it any more". At this point he's wetting himself with joy. I then found an electric motor 1425 rpm and offered him that because he needed to make a bench polishing machine. It was really nice to meet a genuine person who could make use of my junk and had a big smile when he left.
He was obviously someone like us lot and I'm sure he probably does he same thing and helps others. There was the bloke who wanted something I was offering for free to be delivered 200 miles away but we won't mention him. Oh, I just did!

Had a few "expensive" items listed on ebay.............had over 800 watchers on one. Always amazes me when it clearly states in the listing no time wasters please, genuine interest only? To be met with messages like...."your asking too much", "the price is ridiculous" and a few others which I ignored.............I wonder what goes through peoples heads that they are so incensed by what people are asking, they feel the need to sit in front of a keyboard and give them a piece of their mind, and free personal valuations of items they have no interest in buying? ...................Pardon me, I'll message you personally next time and ask you what I should be listing me items for, to see if your ok with it before I go ahead
Im not to familiar with advertising law , but if people what to advertise something with a particular value, its down to them, if they sell it, great if it doesn't so what? If Im a buyer, interested in an item, and its not in my price range/budget I move on........I don't lecture them on a price they should be selling it for so it makes me feel better

Yep and I don't doubt they're worth £350 but they were MT4 so actually not a lot of good to me at any price.

I had a bloke call about a motor a few yrs back. Spoke on phone, agreed price, it was well cheap. He turns up and before I get the door fully open he’s. ‘Oh I dont know about £xxx. I’ll give you.’ I just shut the door in his face. He’d driven from Huddersfield with a trailer.

So he stands there for a bit, and knocks again. I wait a few minutes and open the door. "I’ll giv.." Bang goes the door in his face again. .

He walks back to he van and gets an envelope out, knocks on the door and shoves it in my hand. "Its all there"

Now wasn't that a lot easier.

Sold my R-Tech TIG Welder on eBay last month for WAY more than I'd anticipated; had it on fixed price with offers - someone bought it same day at the BIN price without putting in an offer.

Have only ever plenty on Facebook Marketplace bit only on individual groups, like cycling equipment, and even had good success on Gumtree. However Mrs Tangledfeet, clearing out her late Mother's house, put an old sofa on Facebook Marketplace and had no end of timewasters... I'd have warned her her she told me beforehand.

It wasn't me that was offered that, it was @Tangledfeet . It was a cylinder he bought from me and he then wanted to sell it a while later and I think he may, like you, have stated no swaps etc. It was funny though, not the usual thing you would expect to get offered for an Argon cylinder

Not had many problems selling on ebay, I just hate posting stuff.
My best experience buying things is from forum members, say what's going to happen and it happens - meet some great people too

Even giving stuff away on facebook is a minefield

Worst we had was a very expensive highchair.....

We sold a very big, very posh babies cot years ago, on Facebook. It was a very nice wooden thing with sliding sides, carvings etc that we bought overseas. A woman called up and agreed to buy it, no mention of haggling or any price drop.

She turned up and we brought all the pieces and loaded them into her rather flash looking SUV thing..... and then she snootily decided it wasn’t worth what we were asking, she could ‘buy a new one for the same money’.

She would only pay £30 less than advertised price, so I let her take it, as I just wanted rid of the thing my wife had hung on to for years...

The following day I realised I had still the two cross supports for the base of the cot, and without some clever woodwork she’d never be able to use it.

Wifey said we should call her.... ......Nah, stuff her, I said. She never got back to us either, so no idea what her game was.

Giving things away, I offered a very nice round steel hot rod fuel tank for freebies, just to clear space. Some guy agreed to take it, address was given, a day and time arranged..... he never showed..... never saw him or heard from him again.

Nowt as queer as folk.

On the other hand, I’ve bought and sold some good stuff to some very nice people. So it’s all good.

Years back my mate was selling a yellow fiat Cinquecento and asked me if I'd go meet a potential buyer for him as he had to work. So I'm in the local McDonald's car park and a guy in his 50s arrives with his daughter to look at the car, she stayed in the car and he got out. He spent the next hour going over the car front to back inspecting everything. Eventually he tells me that he's happy with the car, we agree a price and he says I just need to check with the daughter as the car is for her and signals her to let down her window, and says so what do you think? She replied I don't like the colour and let's her window up. He looks at me and goes ah well it's for her so...
Que me having an absolute melt down and abusing him and her into the ground about how it got past the stage of looking at the add if she didn't like the colour

Not much use to me either as my sip is mt2 , my devlieg is 40int and my horizontal borer is 4mt but with the locking wedge

A local guy had a Richmond compressor on market place for 90 quid. They are only 120 new with 2 years warrant.....I asked if his price was fixed..... it's now listed as sold.
Why would you save 30 quid and loose 2 year warranty ?
