I have 601 in various sizes or 7018 in 2.6
AgreeI find 7018 far nicer and easier to use for positional work, including overhead. (Not that I do that much overhead or am any good at it)
What sort of weld are you doing? If it's a full prep butt, 2.6 are a bit small but will certainly do the job.
Keep a short arc and they will work great.
Vodex?
Yep, had all of those in a holder at one time or another. Used Fastex to weld the seams, inside and out, on the drums I'd rolled to make land rollers.BOC used to make them in the dim and distant past, Vodex, Murex, and Fastex.
