Electric over WiFi? This is crazy!

The problem with Nicola Tesla's world wide electricity web was the impossibility of metering the user's consumption!

When Calderhall was opened back in the 50's, one of the claims was electricity would be so unbelieveably cheap, that it wouldn't be worth metering ! It hasn't worked out like that mind.

Wouldn't surprise me if it hasn't already been done, however, it would certainly have been suppressed. The mantra of power companies would seem to be like that of the pharmaceutical industry. There's no profit in a cure, only in repeat business.

The cancer rate has also risen along with the ownership of shoes, cars, telephones and ships.

god I used to love radio 1 on the daytime and Luxembourg on the nite stopped listening to radio 1 because all they played was rap i mean crap music a load of western oriental gentleman banging on drums and things and talking listen to absolute radio 80 s now

Was brought up on classic gold.
Listened to r2 fo years then just stopped. Haven't had the radio on in a long time.

100%, hate radios at work, its either bullplop talk type radio or that african bang bang music. Thank god for ear defenders.

I remember reading a Readers Digest magazine somewhere many moons ago, there was a story in one of the bits they put at the ends of articles.

University lecturer asks a particularly noisy student who wasn't paying attention "how does electricity work?"

Long pause "I forget" came the answer . . . .

They were spiral wrapping, or going to fibre optic cable along the wire at the top of the pylons. I don’t no how much was done though. It had to be made with a shot gun barrier, this I don’t think was realised at the time.
