opening a bank account

just enquired about opening a bank account and need an appointment . the earliest is 10th of September no use at all need one quick . its a good job they can afford to be so slow and turn down minimum of 40 grand just going to ring my business bank up and see if they can do it quicker

gonna go in tomorrow and see em face to face. rang them up earlier . 20 minutes for nothing then rang there essential workers line and got strait throughwas helpful but said go online and book an appointment not that simple it went round the houses

As Stuvy said, Starling. Easy to set up and you get interest! OK, I only get tuppence a month. Plus immediate overdraft. And decent phone help with a live person.

I have given up with the big high street banks. I was making a few quid and the Yorkshire <spit> wanted me to make an appointment to go in and talk to them about money laundering?
HSBC didn't want me to pay more than £100 cash into my personal account?

So far, with Starling, I just pay my money in at the Post Office and pay my bills. It works for me.

I got a little drunk last time Premium Bonds were discussed here, a Friday night I believe, and cleverly stuck £2 grand into them on my phone app.

Monday morning I got a text from the bank pointing out I don’t have an overdraft facility, so could I please sort out the £2k I was overdrawn.....

I’d bought them using the wrong account. I quickly rectified it, lest I ruin my clean banking record.

That was 2 weeks ago, still haven’t won anything.

I remember Lloyds writing to me years ago,,asking if I could come into the bank on Friday afternoon, they needed to speak to me. I had just bought my first house, 1988, so I booked time off work, went into town, hit the bank......

...and all they wanted was to ask me if I’d like to take a loan out. I gave them a bit of an ear bending and it never happened again.

They just bombarded me with flash glossy snail mail loan brochures at least once a week, until I went in and told them to stop sending that ***** too.

We had to got to Halifax to do a remortgage, they made us sit through a bloody video it was a bit like Peter and Jane buy a house it was absolutely unbelievable and we told them so, me and the wife laughed most of the way through it.


Bank with app, money into bonds we've done way better than any interest from a bank.
