Found a 3 Plum treeS in a row at the side of the rd today, roadside they were green but on the furloughed felid they were ripe.

The trees were hanging, I picked twice as much as pictured in less than 5mins. Ive eaten the other half.

I've always been taught that you forage anything within 50yds of a road, as the plants absorb the diesel particulates (and lead at one time)?
I can't find anything specific online, but worth bearing in mind?

Got the anvil home today

Was it painted red some time in it's life or just got splashed with some paint I wonder.

Lengthwise it's not flat

Crowned across the side here

But in others it's dished.

Difficult to read the year or anything else really but I don't think it's from the 19th century. I think it reads 191? instead.

It was pretty rusty so I rubbed it down with some boiled linseed oil. I am not sure if I should put it in the electrolysis bath or not, or just leave it as is.

Give the details a very light polish with a flap wheel, it ought to make the lettering and numbers stand out a bit better.

I hear you, but do wonder about all the crops. Besides I can get those stubborn boogers now my middle finger is 5" long

A neighbour lent me his Belle mixer to use and keep as long as I needed it, which I am grateful for. He said it might need a new belt. However, when I took the guard off I couldn't believe what I saw, the motor had a "Plastic Shaft " which had stripped itself out of the steel pully; an engineering design fail for sure.

The damage was too severe to remove the pully, but I did manage to repair it by using 3000 lb epoxy and then drilling through the pully & shaft and inserting a roll pin; how long it will last is questionable, but so far I've put about a couple dozen loads through the mixer without issue.

Thought I would let you know about this poor design feature, which might also be of interest to anyone who owns a Belle mixer, or those considering buying one.

hmmm.
I've been planning to swap my 3.5 bag diesel mixer for a much smaller (easier to store) belle minimix.
I'm beginning to think more and more that's a bad idea.
(Mixed a full cube (20 mixes) yesterday in it - between spasms of earache, and dizziness from painkillers + vertigo)

might be 50 feet? I know that the "survival" course I did in the late 80s was "don't eat from plants in roadside hedgerows".

Yeah, unfortunately nothing seems to be made as good as it use to be. The pully on the motor shaft only had a setscrew to hold it in place, not even a proper keyway.
Sorry, didn't mean to your jump your paranoia level up, but it is a good idea to check the workings of anything purchased nowadays.

My son just dropped my Belle mixer back, he managed to pull the socket out of the mixer shorting the wires, will need to take a look at that, also my wheelbarrow has been rustproofed with a 1/2" layer of concrete, bit heavier now!
