Phase converter;How big a Motor

I have a Phase Converter made by Reliance Electric (Model ATAC A-C VS Drive)
Plate info as follows;

Line; 220/230v 50/60Hz 12A
Motor 220/230v 50/60Hz 4.5A

What is the type of motor and what is the biggest size motor I can run on it.

CHange from 230V single-phase to 230V 3-phase.

Yep, 240v 3 phase. The motor that is currently fitted is a 240/415v 3 phase 0.55kw

I was trying to find out what the largest motor I could run on it, however I have since found out it is 0.55kw.

So looks like I need to uprate the Inverter AND Motor


As for why? It gives allows you variable speed with constant torque, some thing a 240V DC would not.*
