Why do people keep taking vertical videos? They are awful - you don't get full screen. Mobile phones should come with a huge arrow printed on them so people know which way to hold them when taking photos or videos

Some of what they are doing ive seen before but other stuff is just plain wrong

I would not be doing anything that you see going on there - I like to sleep at night! Dropping material into a suspended skip is a huge no-no, shock-loading the lifting points and accessories. The machine in the skip is ridiculous practice and they don't even have a properly established crane mat.

This ain't the 70's anymore.

As said above the shock loading on those chains from dropping a ton of brickwork on that skip can't be right!?
The numpty in the other skip swinging in the breeze, then people wondering around with no edge protection, the 360 sitting on top of the window openings!!!

In demolition, distancing is one of the most effective collective protection measures. You remove humans from the area and do the work remotely with machines. For tall structures that means a long-reach (or high-reach machine) and a good operator. Of course, youtube is full of people doing THAT wrong too and they end up pulling the whole building down on themselves.

The video in post #46 is a great example of how not to do it. There isn't a single thing there that you could call good practice, and several that you can spot right away as very bad.

I would disagree, hosing the building down with water is good practice. Perhaps standing under the skip while you are doing this is ill advised.

Think they're in Belgium from plates but even so in western Europe in this day and age it's not clever. Different places, different standards i guess. they don't go on for the (sometimes) over the top cones and hoarding you see here. Last year in milan, busy roundabout in midday, bloke is changing a lightbulb on a street lamp. Live lane, no fend off / crash cushion, up a ladder on his own with no one even footing it! Base of ladder was in lane 1! No one cared but they all avoided it and it was a ten minute job.

if you zoom in there's actually some clown in the building sweeping / bombing rubbish into the guy with the hose!

Reminds me of an old keeper I knew when I was a kid, he had a landrover like that!!

Yep. Been there, seen it. Wing mirror shot off because he couldn't see where the muzzle was pointing through the 'scope. I could go on, for quite some time.

The principle is good but what he's doing is ineffective. Might as well stop doing it and keep the man out of the danger zone.

If you know enough people that shoot, you’ll hear of all sorts of “accidents”

The only one l have had that I remember,wasn’t actually me but a client that was stalking with me. Rifle was loaded and on his shoulder, unknown to me he would check his safety was still on by flicking it whilst not looking at it. Well he did it and the rifle went off whilst on his shoulder, muzzle would be about ear hole height. When it happened I hit the deck, convinced some one was shooting at us. Looked for him and he was standing there like a spare. No colour in his face, rifle in hand and looking at it. Don’t think much was said on the way back to the hotel
