I was bored and bought another welder... too bored, it seems, because it really isn't worth it
Bought a few weeks ago while i was down in Preston... came out of a closed down factory and seems to have sat for a good few years in a shed.
It's a heavy lump of a thing! Loads of steel and copper in it
Finally got around to testing it out last night...
Pulled side panels off, blew the dust out first.
connected it up to 3 phase supply... and it actually works! Stick welds 6013 and 7018 quite nicely, and then tested the TIG setup... really quite decent.
HF is strong, the slope control and post gas all work well, and the 200 amps is a very strong 200 amps! Quite a smooth DC output for an old transformer as well.
The plan is to repaint the panels, get some Kemppi stickers made up, and then sell it on. No real reason for buying it, other than to see what it was like and to own quite a cool old fashioned TIG set.
Main problem is that it states 3 phase only... but internally it looks like the 220V option only has two pins... wondering about trying it on single phase to see what it does... It would make a lot easier to sell on if it would work on 240V.
